Fatal Florida collision involved two vehicles

Highways are often dangerous places, especially if there are reckless drivers on the road. One of the most common types of reckless maneuvers is an unsafe lane change or passing of another vehicle. Police say this may have been a key factor in a recent fatal Florida collision.

Several vehicles were sharing a roadway when a tragedy occurred. A 20-year-old man who was driving a pickup truck attempted to pass the vehicle that was in front of him on the road. The pickup driver was in the westbound lane at the time but traveled into the eastbound lane to make the pass. 

A 33-year-old man on a motorcycle was traveling in the eastbound lane. While the two drivers swerved to try to avoid collision, it did not help. The pickup driver hit the motorcyclist, who was soon after transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, he did not survive. The collision occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on a Saturday, and the motorcyclist’s death was listed as 5:10 p.m. that same day. 

It is not the first fatal Florida collision that has occurred this year, nor is it likely to be the last. In many cases, immediate family members of deceased accident victims file wrongful death claims in civil court. As plaintiffs, they are tasked with providing evidence in court to show that another driver’s negligence was directly responsible for the death of their loved one. The court may order a defendant to pay compensation for damages, which often include emotional trauma, medical bills, loss of consortium and loss of potential future income.
