Fatal auto accident at Florida intersection
Florida intersections can be dangerous, especially in heavy traffic. If a driver is distracted or otherwise negligent at the wheel, disaster may occur. A recent fatal auto accident involved two motorists, one in a sedan and the other who was riding a motorcycle at the time.
Police say both vehicles had just approached an intersection moments before the crash occurred. The man in the sedan was heading north. The biker was traveling the opposite way.
The driver of the car, age 76, is said to have suddenly turned directly into the path of the motorcyclist. A collision occurred as the motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the older man’s vehicle. The man on the motorcycle, age 49, was catapulted through the air on impact, landing in the middle of the roadway.
Rescue workers responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby Florida hospital, but sadly, he did not survive his injuries. The other driver did not suffer any injuries in the collision. In a fatal auto accident, families are often met with financial distress in addition to their grief. State law allows an immediate family member to seek compensation for damages in a civil court when another person’s negligence was directly responsible for his or her loved one’s death. This type of litigation is challenging because the plaintiff must not only show that the defendant was negligent but that his or her negligence was the direct cause of the death that resulted, which is why most plaintiffs ask experienced injury law attorneys to represent them in court.
