Florida is a prime location for vacations, retirement and year-round residence. The state has many amenities to offer. Like all other states, however, there are downsides, such as highways that are often congested with traffic. The more drivers sharing a particular roadway, the greater chance that a fatal auto accident might occur.
On a recent Monday, police officers were sent to the scene of a multiple vehicle crash. Roads were closed to traffic for hours after a collision that sent one person to the hospital with injuries. Sadly, another person involved in the incident suffered fatal injuries.
The tragedy occurred at the juncture of two streets. Such locations are high-risk areas because there is no guarantee that approaching drivers will adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations. People often fail to stop at stop signs or red lights and otherwise make unsafe turns or mergers, which can have disastrous results. A motorist might be alert and cautious behind the wheel but has no way of knowing what another driver is thinking or what he or she is going to do at any given moment.
The collision is still under investigation. It is not uncommon, however, for situations like this to lead to litigation. The state of Florida allows recovering accident victims or immediate family members of deceased victims to seek financial recovery for their losses when they can show sufficient evidence that another party’s negligence caused them damages. While nothing can replace the loss of a human life, court-awarded compensation is a means to help pay medical bills, cover funeral costs and help offset other financial losses associated with a particular incident.
