Melissa E. Dean
Melissa E. Dean was born and raised in Maryland until she moved with her family to Fort Myers, Florida. At a young age she knew she had a passion for justice and civil rights.
Her journey toward becoming an attorney began at the University of Central Florida while earning a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and two undergraduate certificates in Trial Advocacy & Litigation and Criminal Law & Individual Liberties. It was during this time when she discovered her passion for being an advocate of the rights of those who need it the most and developed her love for serving the community through her participation as a member on the Mock Trial Team and being mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
After graduation, Ms. Dean spent several years working in the Central Florida tourism and hospitality industry and in her free time prior to law school, she could be found pursuing her passion for music as an assistant for local artists and her love for civic involvement by volunteering at the LGBTQ+ community center. After being awarded a full academic scholarship, Ms. Dean choose to pursue her legal education at Barry University School of Law.
While in law school, she held leadership positions in multiple student organizations, including the International Law Students Association serving as Founding Secretary and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society as the Entertainment Law chair and President.
She was elected for two terms to represent her class as Senator on the Student Bar Association where she served on the Student Wellness Advisory Committee advocating and promoting the interests of the student body to law school administration and faculty. During her last year of law school, she conducted extensive research on contract and tort liabilities and the public policy concerns raised by COVID-19. Ms. Dean’s work ethic and drive to succeed as an attorney is undeniable; through her various legal internships in law school, she gained an invaluable diversity of experience and has developed a particular ability for advanced legal research. Despite the obstacles of earning a law degree during the pandemic, Ms. Dean graduated early with her Juris Doctor and became a member of the Florida Bar in 2021.
She is excited to begin her career as an Associate Attorney on the Personal Injury team at Rosenthal, Levy, Simon & Sosa, P.A. and pursue her passion, advocating for the rights of others and zealously fighting for justice.
