Marie J. Cox
Marie J. Cox was born in Missouri and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Her ambitions started as a young girl, ultimately leading her to enter the Pre-Law Magnet program at Fort Lauderdale High School, where she was a proud member of the Mock Trial Team. Go Flying L’s! She went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, with a minor in History, from the University of North Florida and earned her Juris Doctor from Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law.
While in law school she sat as Vice President of the American Constitution Society, was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and earned honors in Environmental and Earth Law for her work researching and writing about the possible transgenerational epigenetic effects of environmental racism in the United States. She also gained invaluable experience while interning for the Office of the Public Defender, in the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
Marie began her legal career defending insurance companies against claims of construction defect and personal injury, where saw first-hand how insurance companies manipulate the facts to deny claims. As a passionate advocate, she was unable to continue this work with a clean conscience and decided to make a change. She now assists in the fight to recover on behalf of people injured by the negligence of others and does so with an intimate knowledge of the tactics and strategies utilized by the other side. She is a passionate advocate on behalf of those injured as a result of negligence, and works with compassion, dedication, and integrity – just for you.
When she’s not working to recover for you, she enjoys quality time with her family, as well as making art, reading, and creating new recipes.
