In recognition of his biography being released, today we honor Cesar Chavez. He was much more than an activist. He was a true American Hero who inspired hope. https://www.facebook.com/CesarChavezMovie

In honor of Farmworker Awareness Week, we will be posting various articles regarding Farmworker Justice. Farmworkers deserve our respect and we want to honor the important contributions that they make to our society. As you probably know, 85% of our fruits and vegetables are handpicked by the men, women, and children who work in the fields in every state. Many farmworkers have come to this country to better their lives and feed us, but our broken immigration system deprives many of them of a legal status, creating unfair working and living conditions, separating families, and affecting farmworkers’ health and well-being. Did you know almost six out of ten farmworkers live apart from their immediate family members? Read how lack of immigration status strikes fear in the hearts of many farmworker families. http://www.farmworkerjustice.org/fj-blog/family-separation-america’s-fields

Every day at the crack of dawn, farmworkers leave their homes to endure long difficult days cultivating and harvesting the food we all enjoy. Like undocumented workers across the country, many farmworkers leave their homes in fear—fear that they may not return home that night to their children.
